You will not need the nvidia drivers so you can delete them. AMD GPUs are supported by Ubuntu. You may consider updating the BIOS of your motherboard if it needs it.
I have seen Panel duplicates also. I click on each one separately to see if they both call the programs they represent then I delete one of them.
I find the audio for various outputs and inputs can be adjusted using alsamixer

The one I use is xfce4-terminal that comes with Xubuntu. I have tried others, but the XFCE Terminal Emulator does everything I need it too. I do a little scripting now and then, but no heavy coding.
